President Obama’s Democratic National Convention Speech

I may have been late in seeing Michelle Obama’s Democratic National Convention speech but I made sure I was tuned in last night to catch President Obama’s speech.  I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.

I won’t go on and on about what I loved about the speech I’ll  just let is speak for itself.  But I do have to say I’m very pleased he mentioned climate change.  It’s an issued that I’ve said time and time again doesn’t get enough attention at all.  What’s the point of arguing over policies when the planet you live on is on the verge of destruction?

Anyway check out President Obama’s speech below if you missed it last night.  Let me know what you think.

Thoughts on Michelle Obama’s Democratic National Convention Speech

I know I’m a bit late posting about this but I actually missed the first night of the Democratic National Convention on tv two nights ago. After seeing everyone raving about Michelle Obama’s speech on my twitter timeline I just had to check it out. I’m really glad I did.

First off Michelle looked absolutely amazing. I loved her dress.

Second what I loved most about her speech is that there was no immature mud-slinging or bashing that we’ve come to expect from the opposing party. Michelle got straight to heart what concerns the majority of Americans today (at least in my opinion), their everyday lives.

Politicians have been spending way to much time discussing minor issues that shouldn’t even be relevant. What the people are concerned with first and foremost is being able to make a decent life for themselves and their family members. There are plenty of Americans out there who want to support themselves and be productive members of society and can’t because they either can’t find a job or the job they have isn’t paying enough. It doesn’t help at all that the average cost of living keeps climbing higher and higher.

If you should happen to get sick and you have no health insurance (or poor health insurance) you’re either going in to the poor house or you’re going to die. Is this what the so-called land of opportunity is supposed to look like? Should the rich continue to get richer while the poor and the middle class struggle and suffer? Absolutely not! That’s not the American dream.

It is a such a breath of fresh air to finally hear somebody address this and in a mature and intelligent manner. Well done and well said Michelle.

Does Old Slick Willy Get to Keep His Ghetto Pass After This?

Once upon a time in a land called the United States of America there was president named William J Clinton who cheated on his wife in the oval office. The African-American community in this great land found this amusing and often joked that dear William was the closest they’d ever had to having a black president. After all not only did dear William cheat on his wife, he also smoked marijuana and played saxophone on the Arsenio Hall show.

Now let’s fast forward a couple of years to when this great land called the United States of America was actually on the brink of having a real black president. This presidential hopeful named Barack Obama just so happened to be running against the same wife dear William cheated on for the democratic nomination. That would be Mrs Hillary Clinton. And how does dear William react you may wonder? He says he says, and I quote: “A few years ago this guy would’ve been carrying our bags”. You can read it for yourself here. Really though Bill?

I mean it’s no secret Bill Clinton isn’t the biggest fan of President Obama. He’s openly criticized his policies and called him incompetent on more than one occasion (random side note: if Obama is incompetent then what the hell was Bush?). Bill Clinton is entitled to his opinion even if I wholeheartedly disagree with him. What makes me upset is, how could this man who once had support and love of the African-American community turn around and insult them by making such racist remarks? He totally just spit on every black person that voted for him in both 1992 and 1996.

Secondly, I’m just extremely annoyed that I still have to hear crap like this in 2012!!!! In 2012 I still have to complain about not being seen as equal to everyone else because of my skin color???

Hey guess what Bill. My skin is dark and my hair is nappy. That doesn’t make me inferior to anyone. Get over it!

This is stupidness I’d expect from the GOP not from dear old democratic Slick Willy. I’m so disappointed

An Elected Official That Doesn’t Know Basic Human Sexuality? Does That Even Make Sense?

It was one thing when Rush Limbaugh said that women on birth control are  sluts.  Yes it was a ridiculously stupid comment.  But for the most part I just ignored it.  I didn’t feel like wasting energy responding to a guy that was obviously a total moron.

Most importantly Rush Limbaugh is nothing but a radio host.  He’s a private citizen just like the rest of us normal people and does not have the power to create policies.  So frankly I don’t care what his opinion is.

Now Todd Akin, a US representative from Missouri, saying that if a woman get’s pregnant as a result of rape then she wasn’t legitimately raped is a totally different ball game.  According to Akin doctors claim that if a woman is forced into intercourse against her will her body will reject the sperm.  Excuse my language but….you have to be f*cking kidding me!

In the year 2012 I shouldn’t even having to explain this but I’ll do it anyway.  If a woman has unprotected sex so long as her reproductive organs are functional she can get pregnant. PERIOD. Whether or not it was consensual is completely and totally irrelevant.  This is basic human sexuality not rocket science.

It’s plainly obvious that these claims are not only stupid but blatantly misogynistic.  Everyone sees that so I won’t go into detail about it.  My concern is that this man is an elected official working for the United States government.  He has the power to create and change laws.  If he truly believes that women have some magical internal defense mechanism that can prevent them from getting pregnant when raped then there is something seriously wrong with this picture.

Aren’t government officials supposed to be intelligent?  I did a little research on Todd Akin.  Apparently he has a degree in management engineering. Unless he bought this degree at the convenient store it doesn’t make sense that he doesn’t know a simple fact that most high schoolers are aware of.  What’s worse is this guy wants to run for senate!

Am I the only one that thinks it’s a bit odd that more and more supposedly educated government officials are starting to look like blithering idiots? What do you think?

Hey guess what people! Our wonderful president has turned 51 today!  Since the mainstream media doesn’t seem to want to give him a break I decided to take matters into my own hands by throwing our president some positive publicity.  I came across this interview First Lady Michelle Obama did in Ohio.  It seems like they aren’t wasting any time getting to those battleground states this election year.  Click here to listen.

P.S. I think it’s so cute when she mentioned giving President Obama his birthday present at the end of the interview.  Call me crazy but did the First Lady just hint at giving her hubby some birthday sex? You decide.
